3 Top Reasons to Use Wash and Fold Services

LAUNDRY TIPS

If you’ve never used a wash and fold service, now's a great time to start.

If you’re an essential worker, you might be too busy right now to spend a lot of time on your laundry, and if you’re someone who’s at risk of coronavirus complications, you may be searching for a way to get laundry done that involves less exposure than spending the day at the laundromat.

There are other great reasons to try a wash and fold service too. Here are three of the top ones.

The Cost

“Cost?” you may be thinking. “Cost is the reason why I don’t use wash and fold services!” You’re not alone in that assumption, but the cost may be less than you think.

It's true that you’ll be paying for someone’s labor if you’re not doing your laundry yourself. But how much is your labor worth? Paying for a wash and fold service means freeing up your time to do something else. Maybe that means putting in some overtime at work. If that’s the case, then wash and fold services will probably pay for themselves and then some.

Maybe you’ll spend that time doing something that’s a little more difficult to quantify like doing a craft project with your kids, perhaps, or just relaxing with a good book. It’s hard to put a price on those types of activities, but there’s a good chance that they have more value to you than the cost of a load of wash and fold laundry.

There are more tangible costs to consider as well. If you don’t normally do your laundry at home, for example, having your laundry picked up and dropped off at a location that’s convenient for you may be cheaper than paying for the gas or transportation to your laundromat.

The point is, you should consider all of the costs that go into getting your laundry done, not just the sticker price of the wash and fold service. The affordability may surprise you.

The Expertise

Doing laundry is a skill. It’s a skill that most people can learn, of course, but there are different skill levels and different levels of commitment to developing that skill. Even though you know how to do your own laundry, there’s a good chance that you aren’t as good at it as someone who’s been doing laundry for a living for years. You may occasionally be confused about how to wash a particular fabric. You may habitually use more detergent than is good for your clothes or the washing machine. You may not know which fabric softener works best.

Sure, you could probably improve your laundry skills, but how much of your time and energy do you want to put into that? Is it worth it? If you know you have tricky items to wash, wouldn’t it be easier to just pay someone who will know how to do it well?

Get Caught Up Quickly

Maybe you usually keep up with your laundry, but lately, it’s gotten out of hand. It happens. You’ve been busier than usual, perhaps, or you’ve been stressed out and just haven’t wanted to deal with it. Laundry is a time-consuming chore under the best of circumstances, and when you’ve let it build up for too long, it can seem impossible to catch up.

Using a wash and fold service allows you to get a bigger amount of laundry done all at once. Even if you only use the service when you need to get caught up, it’s a major time-saver and much more convenient than slogging through multiple laundry loads.
