Refresh Your Work Wardrobe for 2020

CLOTHING CARE TIPS

New Year’s resolutions are valuable, but they aren’t always a lot of fun. Depending on your personality and preferences, exercising more, cutting down on caffeine, or eating more vegetables might be important for you, but those activities probably aren’t very exciting.

Revitalizing your wardrobe can be fun, however, and it might also be a valuable goal for the new year. After all, you need to dress for success, right? Take a look at some fun and fashionable tips that will help you refresh your work wardrobe for 2020.

Get Organized

That’s right, the first step to revitalizing your wardrobe isn’t hitting the shops; it’s organizing your closet. That may not sound fun at first, but think about the clothes that may be hiding in a dark corner of your closet that you’ve forgotten all about; you might make some exciting discoveries without spending any money at all.

What’s more, an organized closet is the first step to an easier morning and an updated workplace look. You’ll have an easier time finding the clothes that you want to wear, and in an organized closet, you won’t have to worry that the blouse you want is full of wrinkles because it slipped off of the hanger and sat on the floor unnoticed for a week.

Try to group your work clothes together to make for an even more streamlined experience when you’re getting ready for work. Once you’ve cleaned out the closet, gotten rid of things that no longer fit or that you no longer want to wear, and grouped your work clothes together in one place, you’ll be able to see whether you need new work clothes, or whether you actually have more than you think.

Accessorize

If you need to update your look but you can’t afford a lot of new clothes, don’t worry. You can do a lot to freshen up your wardrobe if you use the right jewelry and accessories.

For example, maybe you tend to dress conservatively, but you’re meeting with clients who are more likely to respond better to a youthful, trendy appearance. A luxe scarf, brightly colored bag, and some dangly earrings can go a long way toward making an understated outfit pop a little more. Or, if you need to go in the other direction, a strand of classic pearls and a pair of sunglasses in elegant frames can mute a flashier outfit a little bit. It really is the little things that make all of the difference.

Shop With Your Current Wardrobe in Mind

Of course, not every problem can be solved with accessories. If you’ve sorted out your closet and tried out some new accessories and discovered that you still need some new pieces, then, by all means, get busy shopping.

However, shop with your current wardrobe in mind. Get pieces that will easily mix in with the clothes that you already wear to work regularly. If you choose new clothes that are complementary in color, fabric, and style to your current work wardrobe, you can easily pair new and old pieces for fresh new combinations, and this will make your workwear go further while still updating your look.
